Gingerbread House Building Competition

 It’s time to bring your creativity (and sweet tooth) to life! The CHBACI Gingerbread House Building Competition invites our member companies to take part in a fun and festive challenge that supports a good cause. Build, decorate, and compete for bragging rights, all while giving back to the community this holiday season!

Participation

• Entry Fee (with 1 kit included): $120 + GST per entry
• Additional Kit purchase: $20+ GST  per kit
  
• Eligibility: Open to all CHBACI member companies. 
• Kit Distribution: Kits can be purchased and taken to the participant's business establishment for construction.
• Kit Pickup: Kits can be picked up at the office starting Nov 6, 2026.

Key Dates

• Return Date: Completed gingerbread houses must be returned on December 4th between 9am to 3pm.
• Judging Date: Judging will take place on December 5th at the CHBA Central Interior office.

Construction Guidelines

• Kit Use: Participants must use the gingerbread kits provided.
• Modifications: Creative modifications and decorations are encouraged as long as they adhere to the general structure of a gingerbread house.
• Base: Participants can use their own base or platform to build and display the gingerbread house. The base must be sturdy and allow for easy transport. There is no standard size or shape for the bases although it must be larger than the house.
• Materials:
  • Edible Components: The majority of the house should be made from edible materials. Non-edible structural supports are allowed but should be hidden.
  • Decorations: Participants are encouraged to use a variety of edible decorations to enhance the visual appeal.

• Size:
  • Dimensions: No specific size limit, the gingerbread house submitted may take any shape, form or size, but the house should be manageable and transportable. Ensure it fits through standard doorways and can be easily handled.
  • Height: There is no height restriction but consider the stability and transportability of taller structures.

• Innovation: Use of innovative designs and unique concepts is highly encouraged.
• Branding: Businesses may incorporate subtle branding elements into the design, as long as they do not overshadow the gingerbread house.

Judging Criteria

• Creativity: Innovative and imaginative designs.
• Craftsmanship: Quality and precision of the construction.
• Aesthetics: Overall visual appeal.
• Winner: The winner's selected charity will receive all proceeds from the event.
• Recognition: Winners will be recognized on social media and through CHBACI's communication channels.

Submission

Completed gingerbread houses must be returned to the CHBA Central Interior office on December 4th, from 9am to 3pm.

 

•  Labeling: Ensure your gingerbread house is clearly labeled with your business name, contact information, and the name of your charity of choice.
• Transport: Participants are responsible for transporting their gingerbread house to and from the CHBACI Office.
